This triangular shaped basket is woven in start and stop weaving with varying sizes of hand-dyed rattan. The three sided basket shape begins with a base in which spokes are placed in a triangular shape and twined into place. It offers two weaving techniques plus the addition of diagonal curls that are added after the basket is woven. The rim is lashed with waxed linen. The challenge of the basket is in the shaping. Students will need regular tools, a large eyed, blunt ended needle and a spoke weight. |
