Flo Hoppe: Mini Fishing Creel

| Description: |
This mini fishing creel is a good introduction to the techniques for making a full sized creel. The base and lid are both made on a frame of #8 reed. The sides are woven with 3-rod wale and chase weave with some packing to raise the back of the creel and make the strap holes. The lid spokes are scallomed onto the frame both at the bottom and top. Lid is attached with leather handles; strap is dark grown latigo leather with adjustable buckle. |

The intricate-looking but subtle spiral design on the sides of this basket is woven with 3-rod wale using both round and flat weavers. Additional interest is created with space-dyed reed. The basket has a split-spoke base construction and is finished with a 4-row rolled border. |
