Joan Moore: Tea Basket

Joan Moore's Tea Basket
Description: Using the natural materials of ash, birch and Michigan sweet grass, these small treasure will be a delightful addition to your kitchen windowsill, where they can hold an assortment of teas. All materials will be prepared and ready to weave, and students may choose from a several designs to create their own special basket.
Dimensions: 2" x 1" x 2" high

Joan Moore: Maori Birch Tray

Joan Moore's Maori Birch Tray
Description: This exquisite tray is inspired by the beautiful Maori flax twill weaving patterns, interpreted by Joan in supple birch bark. Choices for the base design as well as "bird track" twining are offered for students wanting a greater challenge. Students may bring some personal embellishments to tie onto the waxed linen lashing, if desired.

Weaving Level: Intermediate with twill experience.

Joan Moore: Interwoven

Joan Moore's Interwoven
Description: Though this basket's design appears to move to the left, the twill is actually woven with 3 continuous weavers to the right. Students will weave a twill base with 2 groups of dark colors and gently shape the basket into a vase or bowl shape. Interlaced rim lashing will be demonstrated, but students choosing this more complicated rim may not finish it in class.
Dimensions: base approx. 6" x 10" diameter x 5" high
