Marlys Sowers: Forest Harvesting Basket

| Description: |
Students will start with a frame made of willow and weave a rib-style basket using different kinds of willow. The basket is shaped
like an oriole's nest and will be emphasized. The leather strap will be added after the basket is completed. This is a very usefull basket - works great for gathering wild mushrooms
or harvesting garden produce. Instructor will talk about raising and harvesting willow. |

| Description: |
Students will taper natural and dyed staves and insert them into a base and weave with natural and dyed Hamburg cane over a mold. The wood is ebonized maple. Marlys will talk about the process of dying the wood. |
