Starved Rock Weaving Day
Come and weave a patriotic basket at our annual summer weaving day at Starved Rock Lodge. The day begins with a continental breakfast from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. Lunch is served at noon and will include croissant sandwiches, deli salad, dessert, coffee and iced tea. (If you require a vegetarian meal, please mark your registration as such.) There will be time to weave, the LLBWA meeting, a pre-view of the Fall Workshop Baskets, and great fellowship of weavers. Registration for the day is $20.00. Audrey Kooi, Back Porch Babies & Baskets, designed this year's star shaped basket. Janelle Kehl is in charge of registration and preparing the kits for the day. The wood- based basket comes in two sizes, an 8" base and a 10" base. The baskets are stackable and look great as a set. It is woven with navy and red dyed reed for patriotic accents. You can order the complete kits for $15.00 (small star) and/or $20.00 (large star). Or you can order just the base for $5.00 (small star base) and/or $5.60 (large star base) and bring your own weaving materials. (See list below of materials you will need to bring for the basket.) Registration and order forms are printed in the newsletter and available online. Place kit and base order by May 15th. Bring your basket weaving supplies along with Elmer's wood glue. This event is open to LLBWA members and non-members as well, so bring a friend and introduce them to our group. You are also welcome to bring another weaving project of your choice if you prefer. Remember to bring an item for our "Show and Share" tables so we can see what weaving you have been doing.
