Recipe:   Easy Chocolate Cherry Cake

Event:   Holiday 2000 Basket Exchange and Potluck

Ingredients:

  • 1 box chocolate or Devil's Food cake mix
  • 1 can low-fat or fat-free evaporated milk
  • 1 can cherry pie filling
  • 1/2 C chopped nuts (walnuts, or pieces)

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  • Mix the dry cake mix with the can of evaporated milk, just until cake mix is moistened; do not overmix.
  • Spread into a greased 9" x 13" pan sprayed with non-stick spray.
  • Distribute pie filling over top of the cake mixture.
  • Bake 30 minutes at 350ºF.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts over the cake; return to oven for an additional 15 - 20 minutes; do not overbake.
  • Cool, then cover cake to retain moisture.
