Oster Hasen (Easter Rabbit) Cookies |

Celebration of American Basketry 2001 |
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1 1/4 cups vegetable shortening
- 1 1/4 cups butter
- 15 eggs
- 13 tsp. baking powder
- 15 cups flour
- 2 1/2 cups milk
Vanilla Frosting:
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp. milk
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Instructions:
- Cream sugars, shortening, and butter together.
- Beat in eggs, one at a time.
- Mix dry ingredients and add alternately with 2 cups milk; only add the last 1/2 cup milk if needed. It is a very soft dough.
- Refrigerate dough overnight.
- Cutout cookies and bake in 350 oven for 10 to 15 minutes. Cool and frost. Use raisins or chocolate chips for eyes.
Yield: 10 dozen cookies, depending upon size of cookie cutter.
