This little oval purse is woven with a random twill eave, which will result in a class full of individually unique baskets.  Beginning with an ash base, students will weave with a very fine Hamburg cane over dyed spokes,  A round rein leather handle and rim lashed with waxed linen completes the basket.  While this basket will be shaped without a mold, class will discuss the use of items to help maintain a consistent shape.  Twill experience necessary.  

Special tools students need to bring:  Students should bring a size #20 Tapestry needle and a small packing tool along with their regular basketry tools.
