Starved Rock Weaving Day

New this year, Eileen Mirsberger from East Troy Basketry Company will lead our weaving session. She has exclusively designed for Land of Lincoln Basket Weavers Association a unique basket for this Starved Rock weave - the Starved Rock Shopper.

There are two size options for this basket:

Large: 27" long x 10 1/2" tall (not including the handle) and,

Small: 19" long x 8 1/2" tall.

The handle is hand carved oak. You will have your choice of French Randing (as shown in the picture) or weaving start / stop rows between the triple twining. You will have your choice of two color combinations: rust/blue spruce or navy/burgundy.

If you choose to bring your own weaving supplies, you will need:

Weavers 3/16" f/o

Rim 5/8" f/o (about 75")

Lasher 11/64" f/o or 3/16" f/o

Rim Filler braided sea grass

Dyed Reed:

#3 round dyed in color #1, 26 pieces of 1/4" flat or f/o in color #1 8" each

26 pieces of 1/4" flat or f/o in color #2 8" each

The day will begin at 8 AM, with check-in and a continental breakfast. Weaving will begin around 9 AM.

Lunch wil be served in the Great Hall just outside our weaving room by the huge stone fireplace. Please indicate your choice of lunch entree on the registration form. Lunch will include a salad and coffee or iced tea. During lunch there will be a short membership meeting, then plenty of time to finish your basket or walk around Starved Rock Park. Don't forget to bring something for the "Show and Share" table so we can see what creations you have been working on.

Registration fee is $30 is due by May 14th, 2007. Registration includes facility rental, breakfast and lunch. You don't have to be an LLBWA member to register. In fact, make it an extra fun event and invite a friend, family member, co-worker or anyone else who might be interested in making a basket. If they have never experienced the methodical hypnosis of weaving, invite them to give weaving a try.

This year we welcome a vendor to the Starved Rock Weave. East Troy Basketry will have quality weaving supplies and patterns for purchase. Visit the ETB website www.easttroybasketry.com to order items to be picked up at this event. The vending area will be just outside the weaving room, leave yourself planty of time to shop!
